September 2011: Home Instead CSR's and their partners, big & small, spreading the word in the community about

Operation Medicine Cabinet!

Friends pose in front of Operation Medicine Cabinet's table at the annual Healthy Harvest Bash, held at Huron Valley Hospital last month. The festival brought in about 3,000 people who enjoyed a variety of family activities, including sing-a-longs with Radio Disney, coloring contests for the kids, delicious free treats, health screenings, and local TV and radio personalities. We couldn't have wished for a more beautiful day, and Operation Medicine Cabinet was proud to have been asked to attend.

 Farmington Hills PD Unveils

Prescription Drop-Off

The permanent box, anchored in the department's front lobby, makes it easier to properly dispose of drugs.

Keeping drugs out of the hands of children and out of the environment has been the goal of a two-year prescription drug drop-off program in Farmington Hills.

Last year, local residents dropped off 132 pounds of prescription medication at the Farmington Hills Police Department in just three hours, Police Chief Chuck Nebus said. And in April of this year, a similar collection netted 219 pounds!

Farmington Hills celebrates permanent drop box location!

Last year, Farmington Hills residents dropped off 132 pounds of prescription

medicine @ the Farmington Hills PD in just 3 hours. A similar collection in April netted 219 pounds! It was so wildly popular that there is now an official, permanent drop box installed in the department's front lobby. The collection box is taking in a steady amount of prescriptions, which is a grand success for the program, and a step in making our earth safter. The bin is virtually free to the department and the only cost is for staff to empty the bin when necessary. The pharmaceuticals are destroyed by the Narcotics Enforcement Team in an environmentally friendly way.
